Today was the Inter-PE tournament, in which all self-defense studs have to battle each other out in order to be exempted from the Finals. The event was supposed to start at 8:00 am. As usual, Filipino time has its own time clock and the event started at around 9:30am. All the while, I cursed all the bus drivers who allowed their automobiles to get a flat tire while my dad was honking the car horn in SLEX.

The rules were simple. No grabbing, no running, no turning your back. Great for the last two rules. It's just that our whole self-defense curricculum involved grabbing a part of your attacker and jerking it somewhere else. All we can do is kick. And punch three consecutive times.

My original fight number was 22. However, due to certain adjustments with the sections and weights, my number adjusted to 42. I arrived there at 8:00, and my fight is still at 4:45. You have no idea what forms of self-entertainment I managed to do. Anyway, it's somehow a good thing since I didn't have to fight in round 1 anymore. I was a waiting opponent. My first fight was a daze. I remembered giving her a few one-two side 45 kicks and getting hit about twice. My second fight (5:15pm) was pure horror. As soon as I got near her, she showered me with kicks. I managed to give her a "ladies' punch". The heavens probably had mercy when an official stopped our fight. It turned out that my opponent had prior Taekwondo training and was a white belt (The official noticed just by looking. O_O). Therefore, I was declared winner by default and proceeded to the finals. I think it was somehow unfair for my opponent since technically, she wasn't a colored belt. (The colored belt tournament was after ours.) Her name was Joharah, I think I remember because she gave me a souvenir bruise on my left arm. When I meet my opponents, I usually have a little chat with them, just to ease the mood so no hard feelings wil be harbored. My last opponent was mute. All she did was say hi. I had this feeling that she really wanted to win (Whoever wins in our fight will get a gold.). And goodness did she. Our final score was 2-0, she being the winner. I do admire her spirit, except fot the teeny weeny bit that she gave me a bruised knee and a leg with a bloodclot. Gods, does it hurt. The price of reaching the finals.

I guess it was a bit fun. All throughout our self-defense classes, we were practicing on kick shields. It was a great feeling to finally hit a human. (innocent smile) Plus, I gained a few friends...
