It's already less than a month before my first day of school, and I'm getting the jitters. How would it be? What would be the feeling of your parents leaving you off in your dorm and driving away? And when you turn your back to face that unfamiliar yellow building with the words "Women's Dorm" in the facade, and suddenly realize that you have the whole week to yourself. No 'rents to ask you to do chores, no one to help you find that missing hair brush. Then you sigh. You have to pack, first subject tomorrow is Math 17 and you still don't know where Room 102, S.U. Bldg. is.

It creeps me, really. To suddenly be by yourself. What if that deceitful upperclassman told you the directions to a mere comfort room? College is a mystery and my ignorance makes everything so disconcerting.

Does anyone know of the TV Series "Heroes" by Tim Kring? It's showing Sundays at 8:00 on RPN. It's bloody addicting. Each episode gets you hooked. The story is about people from different parts of the world discovering that they have superpowers. The phenomenon is explained as the evolution of man and that certain individuals have evolved into much superior beings with inhuman capabilities. Unlike other comic series, this one isn't very cheerful. It's quite angsty and philosophical issues about individuality and society are constantly being raised. Ironically, my favorite character isn't a heroe, but a normal human. He's Mohinder Suhresh, an Indian geneticist who's continuing his father's research about the evolution of man. He's sort of the anchor that will make the other heroes know each other and realize that they must come together to save the world. Why my favorite character? It's the accent. Indian with a British twang.
